Kebabish Curry House serves up another success as it brings home Eat Safe Award.
Kebabish Curry house in Oban has added the 2015 eat safe award from Food standards Scotland and Argyll Bute Council to its long list of accolades.
Having already won this prize back in 2012, along with a healthy Living award and a best Takeaway, Scottish Curry award for three years running, Kebabish is the only Pakistani/Indian takeaway in Scotland to have garnered the trifecta of all three coveted awards.
The eat safe award recognizes businesses that strive for food hygiene and safety management standards over and above those required by law. Owner Shaukat Chaudhry said: ‘We’ve worked hard for this most recent award, keeping all the principles that Food standards Scotland are looking for.’
This recent prize joins Kebabish’s healthy Living award sponsored by NHS Scotland, which rewards businesses who make it easier for their customers to make more healthy food choices.
His brother, Hashmat ali, who heads the kitchen, uses local produce whenever possible, along with other highest quality and healthy ingredients in the most hygienic of conditions.
‘You must serve more than 50 per cent certified healthy dishes in your menu, and we exceed that standard by producing more than half of our dishes using only healthy ingredients and preparation methods’ Shaukat said. ‘We use sunflower oil instead of ghee, as well as minimal salt and sugar in our cooking. We use low fat ingredients such as mayonnaise and yogurt, along with low fat cheese on our pizzas.’
Kebabish offers a variety of classical dishes from india and Pakistan, as well as a full selection of kebabs and local favorites such as burgers and pizzas.
‘We are proud to provide healthy food to the Oban community since 2007’, said Shaukat.
